The short version: Brow stores your data locally on your Mac. We don't track you, and we don't store your personal information. AI features are processed by Brow's models but nothing is saved or logged. Your data is yours.
Data Storage
Brow stores all your data locally on your Mac, including:
- Clipboard history
- Screenshots and recordings
- Notes and tasks
- App preferences and settings
- Window layouts and positions
This data stays on your device. There is no cloud sync, no remote backup, and no external transmission of your personal data.
AI Features
Brow includes AI-powered features such as grammar correction, voice dictation, and translation. When you use these features:
- Text is sent to Brow's own AI models for processing
- Your text is processed in real time and immediately discarded — we do not store, log, or retain any content you submit
- We do not use your data to train AI models
- AI processing is performed only when you explicitly trigger the feature
- Voice dictation audio is processed and not retained
No Analytics or Tracking
Brow does not include:
- Analytics tracking
- Crash reporting services
- Usage telemetry
- Advertising identifiers
- Third-party tracking SDKs
We have no way of knowing how you use the app, what you copy to your clipboard, what screenshots you take, or any other aspect of your usage.
No Account Required
Brow does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information. The app works entirely offline and does not need an internet connection for its core features.
Permissions
Brow requests certain macOS permissions to function properly:
- Accessibility: Required for global hotkeys, window management, and text transformations
- Screen Recording: Required for screenshot and screen recording features
- Microphone: Required only if you use voice dictation
- Automation: Required for app launching and system commands
These permissions are used solely to provide the app's features and never to collect or transmit your data.
Mac App Store
Brow is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple may collect certain information as described in their privacy policy. We do not receive personally identifiable information from Apple about our users.
Website
Our website (brow-app.com) does not use cookies for tracking. If you sign up for our iOS launch notification, we store only your email address for the sole purpose of notifying you when the iOS app launches. You can request deletion of your email at any time.
